Who we are

In 2009, Samantha Cisilino decided to start offering piano lessons for children out of her family living room. After not much success at acquiring students, Samantha was happy to accept the teaching position offered to her by a local music store in 2010.  Samantha quickly fell in love with being a piano teacher but within a couple of months the music store started to experience financial difficulties, and closing was inevitable. Samantha was devastated. She did not want the relationships she built with her students to end, and she did not want their piano progress to stop.

With less than a handful of students, Samantha decided to open her own music studio in the Walkerville area of Windsor, Ontario. Samantha named her studio 'Fermata Music Piano Studio.' Her new location paid off as she quickly started to get requests for piano lessons, so much so that she eventually hired 2 teachers to help her with the demand.

Fermata Music is now a studio for 30+ students in Windsor, and it remains one of the most affordable studios in the Windsor-Essex area for piano lessons.
Coming from a family with only one working parent, Samantha knows how grateful her parents were for the modest rate she was charged when taking lessons as a child. Samantha decided to pay it forward by setting affordable rates at her own studio to ensure students of all economic backgrounds would be able to take piano lessons. She never wants financial difficulties to be the reason someone is unable to learn how to play the piano.

What we do

At Fermata Music, we teach individuals of all ages; however, certain ages come with certain challenges. For example, adult students may find certain motor movements required to play the piano difficult to develop, while young children might struggle learning complex concepts or musical terms.

That being said, we encourage all students and parents to keep developmental differences in mind when it comes to how quickly it will take someone to learn how to play the piano.

WHAT DOES "FERMATA" MEAN?

Picture
In music, a 'Fermata' is a musical symbol that signals you to hold a note longer than it is intended to be held for. A fermata can often be found at the end of a section of a piece, leaving us waiting in suspense for the next section, or it can be found at the end of a piece, leaving the the final note held until the sound fades away. With this in mind, Samantha put the word 'Fermata' and 'Music' together to encourage her students to hold onto their love of music for as long as they can.
